Azamara celebrated a rare event on Saturday, October 8, in Koper, Slovenia, where the cruise line's four sister ships met for the first time.
With the newest Azamara ship, Azamara Onward, making its maiden call at the small port of Koper alongside its three sister ships – Azamara Journey, Azamara Quest, and Azamara Pursuit – this historic event was celebrated by the Koper City Council with a ceremony at the beautiful Praetorian Palace, a 15th-century Venetian Gothic palace located in Tito Square. Officials from Koper's local government and port authorities met with the captains of each of the Azamara ships to exchange commemorative plaques marking the sister ships' reunion.
“This has been a special moment years in the making. Initially, we planned for our three sister ships to meet, but just two weeks ago, we were able to confirm that our entire fleet would be docking at the same time,” said Mike Pawlus, Director of Strategic Planning for Itineraries and Destinations. “This wouldn’t have been possible without the support of the Koper City Council, the Port of Koper, the Slovenian Tourist Board, and Atlas Express. We are deeply grateful for the warm welcome and delighted to show our guests the beautiful country of Slovenia.”
“We are very excited to welcome the four Azamara ships and their guests to Koper, Slovenia’s largest port. This port has primarily been a cargo port, but in recent decades, we have had the pleasure of welcoming more and more cruise ships to our beautiful country,” said Mitja Dujc, Head of the Cruise Terminal at the Port of Koper.
“Azamara has been one of our most important cruise partners, and we look forward to welcoming them back next year and in the years to come,” said Koper Mayor Aleš Bržan.
The four Azamara ships will reunite in Koper in the fall of 2023.
