Carnival Cruise Line is partnering with the Kennedy Space Center to launch a space program for children with NASA-inspired activities, which will debut at the Carnival Celebration this November.
As part of Camp Ocean's science and discovery programming, the NASA-supported Space Cruisers curriculum is designed to be as educational as it is fun, and will allow children of all ages to explore the universe and our planet through a series of unique, hands-on learning experiences.
Highlights include:
– Optimal Orbit (ages 2-8): Learn about the force of gravity and how planets, satellites, and other objects move through space in a hands-on experience with a giant trampoline.
– Design Your Own Mission Patch (ages 6-11): Join the ancient tradition of astronauts and design your own mission patch to take home and tell your story.
– Space Cruisers Rocket Workshop (ages 6-11): Follow in the footsteps of NASA's talented engineers and build your own paper rocket to soar high into the sky.
– Mars Base Connect (for the whole family): Explore the steps required to build a base on Mars and get together with your family members to create your own.
– ASTRO! (for the whole family): Name the constellations as they are displayed on a unique star projector in a space-themed BINGO game for a chance to win special prizes.
“Space Cruisers will take our offerings to the next level with the perfect balance of fun and education to give both our younger guests and their families something to get excited about,” said Melissa Mahaffey, director of youth experience at Carnival Cruise Line.
“The Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex is where the history of the American space program comes to life through fun and inspiring activities, exhibits, and educational experiences,” said Therrin Protze, director of operations for the Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex. “We are excited to bring a portion of that experience aboard Carnival Celebration for the Space Cruisers program.”.
The program will debut on the Carnival Celebration when it sets sail on its maiden voyage from Miami next November, and will then expand to Mardi Gras at Port Canaveral in time for the holiday season. Subsequently, various activities from the program will be rolled out across the entire fleet in time for spring break.
