By Cruises News Staff September 13, 2022 Hurtigruten presents its new Antarctic itinerary with a Spanish-speaking guide FacebookXWhatsAppLinkedInE-mail The Norwegian shipping company Hurtigruten presents its new 14-day tour with a Spanish-speaking guide on one of the eco-friendly ships in the fleet, the MS Fridtjof Nansen, which, built in 2020, is the latest addition to the company as a state-of-the-art expedition ship, with hybrid propulsion to generate the lowest possible CO2 emissions. “Antarctica – Highlights of the Frozen Continent.” Its glaciers, inaccessible mountains, and wildlife will not be the only things the company offers, as guests will also have the opportunity to complement their trip with onboard lectures, as well as kayaking or birdwatching, among other activities. The starting point will be Buenos Aires, from where you will fly to Ushuaia to board the ship. En route to Antarctica, you will cross the Drake Passage. Once in Antarctica, you enter a different world of icy waters, glaciers, and icebergs, with wildlife such as seals, penguins, and whales as your only travel companions. For five days, the traveler will be accompanied only by the purest nature on Earth. The Expedition Team will take every opportunity to bring the passenger closer to the impressive wildlife of the Seventh Continent, either through onboard lectures on the history of the frozen continent, the biology of the local fauna and glaciology, or through optional shore excursions where you can observe penguins or while sailing through the icy waters in inflatable boats or kayaks, alongside which seals or whales may appear. The Antarctic Treaty has made this territory a military-free zone subject to a unique administrative regime. Tourism, as practiced by Hurtigruten, helps to preserve the environment.
