The Ritz-Carlton Yacht Collection held a steel-cutting ceremony for the Ilma at the Chantiers de l'Atlantique shipyard in Saint Nazaire, France, marking the start of construction of a modern, next-generation vessel for the company.
Ilma, which means “water” in Maltese, is the name of the first of the company’s two new ships that will sail powered by liquefied natural gas (LNG), and according to forecasts, it is expected to be delivered in 2024.
Both the Ilma and its sister ship, Luminara, scheduled for completion in 2025, are larger and more spacious than the Evrina, boasting a gross tonnage of 46,750 compared to the Evrina's 24,000, and greater capacity. They will also offer even more spacious public areas and a wider selection of high-end suites and cabin categories, all with terraces.
In addition, Ritz has also announced the start of ticket sales. “Bookings for the 2024 itinerary season will open to the public this winter,” the hotel explained in a brief statement.
