Carnival Celebration will feature The Gateway, an all-new, two-deck area celebrating travel and the excitement of exploring new destinations. The area was revealed during a virtual press conference held today by Carnival Cruise Line President Christine Duffy.
With a design and décor inspired by grand terminals and train stations, the entertainment, dining, and shopping area will feature a promenade with 12 high-definition multimedia virtual windows showcasing unique scenes. The 2.5 x 2.5 meter windows and the nearly 100-meter-long LED light ceiling will be complemented by spectacular lighting and a state-of-the-art sound system to create a truly immersive experience throughout the area.
During the day, visitors will be entertained by relaxing scenes like a sunny sky, but at night, the area will take on different nighttime themes, transporting visitors to faraway places around the world. Some of the themed nights will include Abroad in Europe, Far East Voyage, and Mexico Lindo.
“The Gateway was created to celebrate the enriching experience we all feel when we travel, not only because of the destinations we travel to, but also because of the world of cultures we get to explore,” said Christine Duffy, president of Carnival Cruise Line.
The area's offerings will be in keeping with the night's theme, from the music to the drinks and food served, as well as the entertainment activities. For example, on a South American Exploration night, while sunset views over the Amazon and Machu Picchu or a moonlit Rio de Janeiro sweep across the scene, a lively Brazilian celebration will get everyone on their feet as they sip Caipirinhas or Chilcanos and enjoy themed snacks.
The Gateway's main promenade will house a new travel-inspired bar concept, Latitudes, reminiscent of classic airports or train stations, complete with travel-themed chairs, menus, and a mechanical board. Each evening, guests will enjoy a new Celebration Happy Hour event at Latitudes, presented by the entertainment team, providing an opportunity to celebrate special occasions and milestones such as birthdays, anniversaries, and more.
The Gateway will also feature the second seaside restaurant from renowned chef and restaurateur Emeril Lagasse, Emeril's Bistro 1397, offering the finest international cuisine and flavors presented with a signature Carnival touch for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. The restaurant will have seating along the waterfront promenade, as well as a more intimate dining area overlooking the sea.
The Gateway will also feature a large digital map showing the real-time location of Carnival ships worldwide. The area will also house The Golden Jubilee bar, and the ship's main dining rooms adjacent to The Gateway will pay homage to Carnival's history. Also located nearby are the Alchemy Bar, the Fahrenheit 555 Steakhouse, the Carnival Kitchen, and the Limelight Lounge.
The Carnival Celebration will be Carnival's second ship to be powered by liquefied natural gas (LNG), and will include BOLT, the roller coaster on the top of the ship. The Carnival Celebration will debut in November from Terminal F at PortMiami, one of the first terminals to be ready for shore power delivery in 2023.
