The MSC Poesia stopped in Leixões on May 6th, on its 14-day voyage from Civitavecchia (Rome) to Warnemünde (Rostock), Germany, with more than 1,400 passengers on board, also stopping in Genoa, Marseille, Barcelona, Lisbon, Ferrol, Southampton, Le Havre, Gothenburg and Copenhagen.
The Port of Leixões also welcomed Silversea's Silver Moon the following day, May 7th, with 500 passengers on board, mostly Americans and Britons, for its 12-day voyage from Lisbon to Southampton, also visiting Saint-Jean-de-Luz, Bordeaux, Saint-Malo, Rouen, and Honfleur. The Silver Moon is a luxury cruise ship that holds the Green Star 3 Design certification, awarded to ships designed, built, and equipped with a strong focus on environmental considerations.
To commemorate the first visit of the MSC Poesia and the Silver Moon to the Port of Leixões, the usual Plaque Exchange Ceremonies were held at the dock of the Porto Cruise Terminal, in which the Port Authorities and the Captains of the ships participate.
