Emerald Cruises has named Sarah Wikevand, CEO of ROL Cruise, as godmother of its first ocean-going superyacht, Emerald Azzurra, the company announced today. The official naming ceremony for the 100-passenger superyacht will take place in Venice on May 28, 2022.
Emerald Cruises describes ROL Cruise as one of the top superyacht cruise agents and noted its instrumental role in the successful launch of Emerald Azzura. As CEO of ROL Cruise, Wikevand is a highly respected advocate for the cruise industry.
Rob Voss, Chief Operating Officer of the Scenic Group, which includes Emerald Cruises and Scenic, expressed his delight at having Wikevand as godmother of Emerald Azzurra, highlighting the cruise line's continued support for UK travel agencies. “She is a wonderful advocate for the cruise market and her dedication reflects our own commitment to the growth of this remarkable industry,” Voss added.
David Winterton, Emerald Cruises' global brand and marketing director, noted that Wikevand is the third British travel agent to serve as godmother of the Emerald Cruises fleet. “We are delighted that Sarah has graciously accepted to be the godmother of the Emerald Azzurra and are honored to continue this tradition, demonstrating our dedication to our partners.”.
In her role with ROL Cruise, Wikevand has been working with the Emerald Cruises team for over six years and expressed her gratitude for being selected as godmother of the line's newest superyacht. "It is an honor to work closely with the team on such a monumental milestone for Emerald Cruises," said Wikevand.
The Emerald Azzurra, which debuted on March 12 and is currently on an eight-day itinerary in Croatia, accommodates 100 guests in 50 luxurious cabins and suites. The custom-built vessel features a variety of public areas, including an infinity pool, a wellness center with an infrared sauna, and a marine platform providing easy access to water sports and activities such as electric bikes and paddleboards.
The Emerald Azzurra will be joined by its sister yacht, the Emerald Sakara, in 2023, with Middle East and Mediterranean itineraries already on sale.
