The Minister for Trade, Tourism and Ports, MP Vijay Daryanani, welcomed the World Odyssey to the port of Gibraltar. The ship has a capacity of 513 passengers and 260 crew members. On this occasion, it is carrying 465 passengers and 193 crew members.
The World Odyssey arrived in Gibraltar at 8:00 a.m. on Monday, February 28, and will depart at 2:00 a.m. on Tuesday, March 1. The ship's last port of call was Barcelona, and it will sail to Lisbon after leaving Gibraltar.
Minister Daryanani and Captain Kostas Siamantas participated in the traditional plaque exchange at the Gibraltar cruise terminal.
Minister Daryanani said: “It is always a pleasure to welcome a maiden cruise ship call, this time the World Odyssey. This demonstrates that Gibraltar is one of the most popular ports in the Mediterranean. We already have 180 bookings for this year, so I am very confident about the future. We are doing a great deal of work behind the scenes, engaging with senior executives and itinerary planners. This year, I intend to increase our brand presence in the cruise sector. I will vigorously market our port to attract even more cruise ship calls.”.
