Norwegian Cruise Line (NCL) has unveiled its upcoming multifaceted entertainment and onboard experiences available on Norwegian Prima. The first of six ships in the new Prima class, it reveals that the Tony Award®-nominated musical “Summer: The Donna Summer Musical” will be its signature interactive show. Norwegian Prima will also offer numerous onboard experiences new to both the cruise industry and the brand once the ship sets sail in summer 2022, including the world’s first entertainment space that transforms from a three-story theater into a Las Vegas-style nightclub, dry-fall water slides, and the largest go-kart track at sea.

“Summer: The Donna Summer Musical” tells the story of Donna Summer’s meteoric rise from teen star to queen of disco, featuring a repertoire of over 20 of her biggest disco hits. This immersive 75-minute production will be the first of its kind at sea, where the theater itself is transformed into a nightclub and guests can become part of the show, dancing to Summer’s timeless classics.
Taking guests from the disco glamour of “Summer” to the neon lights of “Light Balance Universe” with Light Balance, the “America’s Got Talent” winner, the unique dance troupe brings its stunning visuals and style to the Norwegian Prima. Guests will witness high-intensity choreography and acrobatics as they participate in a multi-sensory show.
The main performances presented aboard Norwegian Prima, including some of the new onboard experiences, will take center stage in this innovative, transforming theater. The three-story space, designed to transition from a state-of-the-art stage to a sprawling dance floor, will feature customizable seating and a stunning LED screen that descends from the ceiling and spans nearly half the size of the space. The extravagant nightclub's SENSORIA theme offers club-goers an out-of-body experience where they can dance until the early hours and enjoy a wide variety of high-energy music and innovative special effects.
The Norwegian Prima will push the boundaries of entertainment for its guests with its interactive gaming experiences, NCL LIVE, allowing the audience to become part of the show and have the chance to win amazing prizes:
- “The Price is Right LIVE on NCL”, where guests will take to the stage and bid to participate in price games and can spin the wheel for a chance to win big.
- “Supermarket Sweep LIVE on NCL, the Prima Theatre and Nightclub will be transformed into a large-scale market, where teams of contestants will race through the aisles in a game focused on trivia questions, product knowledge and speed.
- “Press Your Luck LIVE on NCL” brings the suspense to the sea with a classic American favorite game show, as guests take on the giant board to answer trivia questions in hopes of winning big.
- “Beat the Clock LIVE on NCL” is a great team competition game where visitors will need luck, speed and strategy to complete fun challenges against the clock.
As a cruise line offering go-karts at sea, NCL boasts the world's largest and first three-level racetrack with Prima Speedway. Once racers have completed their exhilarating ride, they can relax in the new Prima Speedway Bar located beneath the racetrack.
For guests seeking the ultimate adrenaline rush at sea, the Norwegian Prima boasts The Drop, the world's first dry free-fall waterslide, where riders experience a 10-story plunge. The edge-of-your-seat experience takes a competitive turn with The Rush, featuring parallel dry slides where guests can race each other to see who's the fastest.
NCL's popular indoor virtual gaming complex, The Galaxy Pavilion, is also leveling up to offer guests 14 attractions to choose from, including four new hyper-immersive simulator experiences only available on Norwegian Prima, two different escape rooms, and a Topgolf Swing suite.
The Norwegian Prima will also feature new activities for guests of all ages, including The Bull's Eye, a thrilling twist on the classic game of darts, and Tee Time, a supercharged version of mini-golf. Making its debut on the Norwegian Prima as part of the ship's water park and main pool area, the brand's first Tidal Wave water slide features dizzying waves where guests can position themselves inside an inner tube to ride the perfect wave. Guests looking to relax can do so in one of the two infinity whirlpools or under the area's cascading water fountain.
Vibe Beach Club, NCL's adults-only area, reappears this time on Norwegian Prima and offers enhanced experiences including an exclusive bar and two infinity jacuzzis where guests can enjoy the ocean horizon at their leisure.
Syd Norman's Pour House, the guests' favorite classic rock club on board, returns like a rock star on the Norwegian Prima after the concept initially debuted on the Norwegian Breakaway in 2018.
After Norwegian Prima concludes its inaugural year of dream itineraries as the newest ship in the industry, it will be the only ship during the 2023 and 2024 winter seasons offering seven-day Western Caribbean cruises from Galveston. Norwegian Prima will call at Costa Maya and Cozumel, Mexico; Harvest Caye, Belize’s premier Caribbean island destination and exclusive to NCL guests; and Roatán Island, Honduras, with all visits taking between eight and nine hours in port.
