Windstar Cruises today announced the debut of its Star Plus class yacht, the Star Legend, which will sail from Lisbon on a ten-day voyage to Barcelona with stops in ports such as Portimão, Cadiz (overnight), Gibraltar, Malaga (overnight), Cartagena and Palma de Mallorca.
The three Star Plus class yachts (Star Breeze, Star Legend, and Star Pride) have undergone significant refurbishments, with Star Breeze being the first to be launched in June, showcasing new suites and expanded indoor and outdoor public spaces. Star Legend is the second of the three yachts to leave the Italian shipyard Fincantieri after the lengthening and transformation project. The yachts are also more environmentally friendly, featuring efficient engines, generators, and advanced wastewater treatment systems.
The three yachts increase their maximum capacity from 212 to 312 guests and offer more of what Windstar customers desire, such as additional dining experiences (one is an open-air barbecue concept with grilling guru Steven Raichlen, and the other a Spanish restaurant by Anthony Sasso, one of the youngest chefs recognized by the Michelin Guide), a full-service spa and fitness center, an elegant infinity pool, and more outdoor deck areas. These three all-suite yachts, along with Windstar’s three classic sailing yachts, remain small enough to continue visiting the world’s small ports and special waterways.
Five of the line's six yachts are sailing again while requiring vaccination of all passengers and crew among a series of health and safety protocols that include testing, social distancing, the use of masks, among other measures.
