The Port of Malaga expects to receive 17 cruise ship calls in September, representing a significant increase in traffic since its reactivation on June 15th:
- September 2nd marks the first day of the month's visit, with the AIDAstella arriving. Another AIDA Cruises ship will also be the second stop of the month: the AIDAperla, on September 7th, which was the first to visit the port on an international itinerary, and which will return on September 21st.
- The day the port receives the most calls will be September 30, when it receives the visit of 4 ships: The Clio of Grand Circle Cruise Line and the World Navigator of Mystic Cruises, along with the Iona of P&O and the Mein Schiff 3 of TUI Cruises.
- On September 15th, there will be 3 stops: The Borealis from Fred Olsen, the Marella Explorer from Marella Cruises, and the Viking Sky from Viking Ocean Cruises.
- Each of these days will host a first stop: Borealis on September 15 and World Navigator on September 30.
- Another noteworthy event is the visit of the ship The World, a regular visitor to Malaga, which on this occasion will visit us between September 27 and 29, spending two nights in this destination in homeport operations.
- Costa Cruises and MSC Cruises will also resume their visits in September: The Costa Diadema will do so on September 26, and the MSC Virtuosa will arrive on September 24, carrying out transit and homeport operations.
- The month is rounded out with another call by Marella Cruises' Marella Explorer on September 28, Viking Ocean Cruises' Viking Jupiter on September 25, and two calls by TUI Cruises, Mein Schiff 2 and Mein Schiff 3 on September 21 and 24, respectively.
As of today, these are the confirmed port calls, subject to change. Typically, September sees an increase in port calls compared to the summer, heading into one of the peak seasons in the area, autumn—spring is also considered peak season. This year, the trend continues with the number of port calls scheduled for this month, which is higher than the 5 received in August, 3 in July, and 2 in June.
Health and safety remain a top priority in these operations, with cruise lines maintaining strict protocols approved by local health authorities and complemented by measures implemented at the Port of Malaga and the cruise terminals, managed by Malaga Cruise Port, as well as during visits to the destination. Malaga has today become the first port on the Iberian Peninsula to welcome a cruise ship after resuming operations following a 15-month hiatus. TUI Cruises' Mein Schiff 2 restarted cruise operations in Malaga, ensuring safety throughout the ship's journey.
