From August 24, cruise ship passengers wishing to disembark in Denmark will be required to take a COVID test on board before leaving the ship.
This new rule will apply to both vaccinated and unvaccinated passengers.
Since June 26, cruise ship passengers vaccinated with a vaccine approved by the European Union have been allowed to disembark in Denmark. Danish authorities have updated this rule with new testing requirements. Before disembarking in Denmark, all passengers must undergo either a PCR test within 72 hours of arrival or an antigen test within 48 hours of arrival, regardless of whether they are vaccinated or have had COVID-19.
“While we are pleased that the vaccination-only requirement has been removed, we still believe that border rules for cruise passengers should be the same as for all other tourists coming to the country,” said Claus Bødker, Director of Cruise Copenhagen.
In addition to offering new opportunities to cruise passengers who have not yet been vaccinated, the new requirements give crew members the same chance of going ashore in Denmark.
For the remainder of the year, Copenhagen will have several stops by AIDA, Mein Schiff and Saga Cruises among others.
