Holland America Line has taken delivery of Rotterdam, the eleventh ship in its fleet. The delivery ceremony took place at Fincantieri's Marghera shipyard in Italy. The new Pinnacle-class ship is the seventh to bear the Rotterdam name for Holland America Line.
The ceremony was attended by the ship's captain, Werner Timmers, and Cyril Tatar, Vice President of Newbuild Services for Holland America Group. Also present were Giuseppe Bono, CEO of Fincantieri, and other executives. Jan Swartz, President of Holland America Group, and Gus Antorcha, President of Holland America Line, participated remotely.
“The Rotterdam looks stunning and will undoubtedly live up to such an iconic name as the new flagship of our fleet, continuing a tradition of excellence that our guests have loved for almost 150 years,” said Antorcha. “Thanks to our partners at Fincantieri and our team members, who have worked tirelessly to deliver the ship on schedule during what has been the most challenging of times, it is immaculately finished and will be an incredible addition to our brand. We can’t wait to welcome guests on board this fall.”.
After delivery, the Rotterdam will remain in operation without passengers until its transatlantic crossing on October 20, 2021, from Amsterdam (Netherlands) to Fort Lauderdale (Florida), where it will then begin its inaugural season in the Caribbean.
