MSC Cruises in Spain announced today that it has reached an agreement with Iberia to operate both charter and scheduled flights this summer from Madrid airports to Hamburg and Venice, facilitating access to the Eastern Mediterranean and Northern Europe for Spanish passengers. This service will also be available very soon for Barcelona's El Prat Airport, with similar operations and departures.
Gianni Onorato, CEO of MSC Cruises, said: “As more ships in our fleet continue to return to service in Europe this summer, we wanted to give our international passengers peace of mind when arriving on the cruise from abroad and, more importantly, by providing charter flights, we will open up a wider selection of embarkation ports for our European passengers.”
MSC Cruises' industry-leading health and hygiene protocol will be extended to charter flights, operated in conjunction with some of Europe's leading airlines.
Mr. Onorato added: “We have used the experience we have gained since returning to operations in August 2020 and will work with our aviation partners to apply our health and hygiene protocol to charter flights in order to extend the ship’s social bubble. This is yet another example of how we are pushing boundaries and delivering another industry first to offer our guests the confidence and peace of mind they need to fully enjoy their holiday with us.”
MSC Cruises will operate six ships in Europe this summer, four of which will benefit from this comprehensive and enriching cruise and flight program. These are:
Western Mediterranean: MSC Grandiosa and MSC Seaside
Eastern Mediterranean: MSC Splendida, MSC Orchestra and MSC Magnifica
Northern Europe – MSC Seaview
