The territorial delegate of Tourism of the Andalusian Regional Government, Vicente García Egea, and the president of the Port Authority of Almería, Jesús Caicedo, held a meeting within the framework of the International Tourism Fair of Madrid, Fitur, where they made progress on the implementation of a joint strategy between the public administrations of the province, with the aim of boosting cruise tourism.
At the meeting, a continuation of the one held last March in Almería, it was agreed that the Tourism Delegation will soon convene a meeting with representatives from the Almería City Council and the Provincial Council to establish a regular technical working group. They also discussed conducting a market study on cruise tourism to inform a program of initiatives aimed at strengthening Almería's position as a cruise destination.
Both the delegate of the Regional Government and the president of the Port Authority have expressed their conviction that, due to its wide range of heritage, cultural, gastronomic and natural attractions, the province of Almería has enough appeal to increase the number of cruise ship calls.
At the meeting held at Ifema, the Tourism Delegate and the President of the APA were accompanied by Antonio López Céspedes, technician of the Territorial Delegation of Tourism, and by José Cuesta, head of Commercial and Quality division of the Port Authority.
