Baleària Caribbean, Baleària's Caribbean subsidiary, will resume passenger services between Port Everglades (Fort Lauderdale, USA) and the islands of Grand Bahama and Bimini (Bahamas) on February 10. The shipping company has received approval from the Bahamian government to resume passenger service after several months of operating only cargo routes due to pandemic restrictions.
The fast ferry Jaume II will make four trips a week, three to Bimini Island and one to Grand Bahama, and the company plans to expand its service offering in the coming weeks.
During voyages, strict health and hygiene protocols will be maintained to prevent any risk of contagion among passengers and crew members: reduced capacity, temperature checks before boarding, hand sanitizer dispensers, mandatory mask use, social distancing measures on board, partitions between seats and in the cafeteria and other passenger service areas, in addition to enhanced cleaning. It's worth noting that Baleària has made a significant commitment to maintaining safety in the face of COVID-19, which has earned it the Global Safe Site certification from the international certification body Bureau Veritas.
