The SeaDream I has halted its current Caribbean voyage and returned to Barbados after passengers tested positive for Covid-19. Immediately after conducting rapid Covid tests on board and receiving the positive results, SeaDream notified local health authorities and activated its Covid response protocols to protect passengers and crew. The ship's medical staff tested all crew members, and all results were negative. SeaDream is currently retesting all passengers.
The crew members have completed the WHO's Infection Prevention and Control (IPC) course on coronavirus and the Johns Hopkins University Covid-19 contact tracing course and are prepared for a rapid response if needed. SeaDream operated successfully in Norway earlier this year, completing 21 voyages during the summer season, as the first luxury cruise line to resume sailing.
“After completing a successful summer season in Norway, we implemented even stricter health and safety protocols for our winter season in Barbados. All passengers were tested twice before boarding, and we are in the process of retesting guests,” said Andreas Brynestad of SeaDream. “We are working closely with local health and government authorities to resolve this situation in the best way possible. Our top priority is the health and safety of our crew, passengers, and the communities we visit.”
Non-essential passengers and crew members are quarantined in their cabins, while SeaDream awaits authorization from the Barbados government to safely disembark passengers, following all protocols recommended by health authorities.
