Valeria Mangiarotti, representing the Sardinian Seaports Network Authority (IT), has been appointed Senior Vice President of MedCruise, effective from the end of October 2020. Valeria Mangiarotti will continue in her role as Director of Sustainability and Environmental Affairs, a position she has held since 2017. This announcement follows the appointment of the new Chairman, Mr. Aris Batsoulis.
Valeria Mangiarotti has extensive experience with the prestigious Mediterranean Cruise Ports Association (Assoporti ya MedCruise), having served as Vice President from 2005 to 2008 and as a member of the Board of Directors while holding the position of Environmental Director from 2008 to 2011. In 2013, she became the Association's Environmental Delegate, participating in numerous international environmental conferences as a speaker. Since October 2017, she has been the Director of Sustainability and Environmental Issues. From November 2018, she has represented Assoporti ya MedCruise on the ESPO Environmental Committee. Furthermore, in February 2019, she was appointed by the Director of the European Commission's Directorate-General for Mobility and Transport as a member of the Expert Committee on Sustainable Ports. Valeria Mangiarotti has led MedCruise's Energy Efficiency and Environmental Sustainability Working Group since September 2020.
Following her appointment, Valeria Mangiarotti commented: “It is a great honor to accept the position of Senior Vice President of MedCruise, which the President and the Board of Directors have offered me at this uncertain time for the cruise industry. My commitment will be to promote the Association and continue fulfilling my duty to the environment, which is not only our present but also our near future.”.
Valeria Mangiarotti is the Marketing Director of the Sardinian Maritime Port Network Authority (ADSP “Autorità di Sistema Portuale del Mare di Sardegna”). She began her professional career at the Port of Cagliari in 2002 and has been involved in the cruise industry since 2004. She holds a law degree from the Catholic University of Milan (Italy) and was admitted to the Milan Court of Appeal in 1992. She earned a Master of Laws in Common Law from the London School of Economics (United Kingdom). Since 2013, she has also been a member of the Board of the Bank of Italy.
