Taking into account the restrictions still in place in some European countries, and in view of the evolving epidemiological situation, Costa Cruises has announced updates to the itineraries scheduled for the 2020/21 winter season.
The Costa Smeralda, the company's flagship vessel powered by Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG), will extend its current itineraries in Italy only until the end of February 2021, visiting Savona, La Spezia, Cagliari, Messina, Naples and Civitavecchia/Rome.
The Costa Smeralda's itineraries take guests to some of Italy's most popular art cities and natural areas, thus contributing to the recovery of domestic tourism. Similarly, the AIDAblu, the ship belonging to the Costa group's German brand, AIDA Cruises, has also been calling exclusively at Italian ports since mid-October.
The Costa Deliziosa will continue to operate its current one-week itineraries around Italy and Greece until January 3, 2021, calling at Trieste, Katakolon/Olympia, Athens, Heraklion/Crete and Bari, instead of Montenegro and Croatia as originally planned.
Meanwhile, the Costa Diadema will postpone the start of its Mediterranean cruises to April 6, 2021, offering 14-day itineraries to Turkey, as well as 14-day trips to Egypt and Greece, as planned.
The new Costa Firenze, which is nearing completion pending final details at the Fincantieri shipyard in Marghera, will be delivered in mid-December 2020 as planned, and will begin sailing on February 28, 2021, offering 7-day cruises in Italy, France and Spain.
In addition, the Costa Favolosa's Caribbean itineraries have been cancelled and the ship will resume operations on April 2, 2021 to offer mini-cruises in the Mediterranean.
Finally, the company has also cancelled the 2021 Costa Deliziosa World Cruise, giving guests the option to book for the 2022 edition.
Costa is informing all affected customers and travel agents of the changes to the 2020/2021 winter program. They will be guaranteed rebooking in accordance with current regulations. Should the situation require any further changes, Costa will promptly adjust its programs to provide its customers with all the necessary information.
