The construction of Disney Cruise Line's new ship, the Disney Wish, which was to join the fleet in 2021 and make its first voyages in 2022, has been affected by the Covid-19 pandemic, so the company has announced the delay of its inauguration to a later date, still unconfirmed.
Significantly larger than the rest of the fleet and using liquefied natural gas (LNG) as fuel, the Disney Wish will have 144,000 gross tons, a length of 341.13 meters, a beam of 39 meters and 1250 cabins, in addition to a main character that will enchant the youngest members of the family, Rapunzel,
“The shipyard building the Disney Wish, Meyer Werft, was impacted by the pandemic, which has caused delays,” said Christine McCarthy, senior executive vice president and chief financial officer of The Walt Disney Company. “We are evaluating the situation with the shipyard and will soon be able to announce the expected delivery date for the fifth ship in our fleet.”
