According to Sky News, the former CEO of Cruise & Maritime Voyages has reportedly bought several of the assets of the recently bankrupt company with the intention of reviving it.
Christian Verhounig has purchased the customer database and booking systems. The insolvency administrator, Duff & Phelps, attempted to sell the business and other CMV assets, but this proved impossible due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.
“We firmly believe that the sale of this asset not only represents the best value for the company’s creditors that we can obtain under current market conditions, but also provides an opportunity for CVI, through its owner Christian Verhounig, to continue seeking financing opportunities to potentially relaunch CMV’s cruise operations at some point in the future,” they stated.
