Fred. Olsen Cruise Lines has confirmed that the Boudicca and the Black Watch will be retired and replaced by the Bolette and Borealis, ships acquired by the company from Holland America Line, which will increase the company's passenger capacity by 30%.
The Black Watch debuted in 1972 as the Royal Viking Line's first ship: Royal Viking Star, and was followed by the Royal Viking Sky in 1973, now Boudicca.
The ships acquired from Holland America Line are the Amsterdam and the Rotterdam, launched in 2000 and 1997 respectively.
“We are now in the final stages of our return-to-service plans and are very excited to do so with two new ships in our fleet,” said Peter Deer, Managing Director of Fred. Olsen Cruise Lines.
“We are still studying several options for the Boudicca and the Black Watch, but we know that they will not start sailing with us when we resume operations again.”
