At a seminar organized by MedCruise, with the participation of Neil Palomba, President of Costa Cruises, and Airam Diaz, President of MedCruise, Palomba confirmed that they have submitted protocols to the Italian health authorities, outlining measures both onboard and ashore. They expect these protocols to be approved in the coming days, allowing them to begin operations in Italian ports on August 1st with the Costa Deliziosa, initially only for Italian guests. If all goes according to plan, they will add the Costa Smeralda and, after the summer, the Costa Diadema. They are also hoping that both France and Spain will reopen their ports, enabling them to operate in these three countries.
The president of MedCruise has stated that self-criticism is necessary to analyze Europe's role as a unit in this crisis and has emphasized MedCruise's collaborative work with other organizations such as CLIA Europe and other national and European port associations to try to reach agreements and recommendations that will allow the recovery of cruise activity in the Mediterranean.
