Eurogate Group Terminals, the concessionaire of the Malaga Maritime Station since 2016, and in close collaboration with the Malaga Port Authority, has obtained Global Safe Site from Bureau Veritas, a world leader in inspection, certification, and testing services. This certification involved a thorough verification of the new procedures implemented at the Maritime Station, including disinfection and hygiene plans, organizational protocols, and protective measures for terminal workers, users, and passengers.
The President of the Port Authority of Malaga, Carlos Rubio Basabe, highlighted “the importance of this certification, as it guarantees the application of strict protocols that will allow the use of our port facilities with the highest guarantee of safety and hygiene. Likewise, work is underway on the rest of the port facilities and premises to achieve the same safety standards.”.
Security measures
Among the various measures implemented, it is worth highlighting the strict access controls and temperature checks for both passengers and vehicles, the disinfection and cleaning protocols before and after each operation, as well as the signage using horizontal posters of the new boarding and disembarking flows, maintaining at all times the established social distancing rules.
Furthermore, the certification company Bureau Veritas has already certified the shipping companies currently operating in the Port of Malaga, such as Armas-Trasmediterránea and Balearia, so obtaining this certificate guarantees the creation of a safe "corridor" throughout the logistics chain for passenger and vehicle transport.
Training and awareness plan on prevention measures
As a fundamental pillar for achieving this certification, a detailed training and awareness plan on prevention measures against COVID-19 has been implemented for terminal workers and employees, along with the creation of a passenger service with updated information on operations, security measures adopted in the terminal and the protocols implemented therein, providing all the necessary information to users of the facilities to make their trip in a safe manner.
With these actions, the Malaga passenger terminal takes another step towards establishing itself as a benchmark port in terms of quality and services to users and passengers of its regular lines and hopes to continue attracting more and more users who decide to use facilities that advocate for excellence in service and a clear focus on the customer and their needs.
