Uniworld establishes health and safety protocols on its cruise ships

Uniworld Boutique River Cruise Collection has established health and safety protocols on its cruises. The company has reported that, in defining the new measures, it considered every point of contact and interaction between the crew and passengers, from onboard meals and suite maintenance and service to excursions and crew protocols.

“At Uniworld, the health and well-being of our passengers and crew are paramount. As we prepare for the global reopening of our homes, businesses, ships, and social lives, we have carefully reviewed our protocols and procedures to ensure that contact between the people we care about most is handled with the utmost care,” said Ellen Bettridge, President and CEO of Uniworld.

The new measures are as follows:

  • Books, magazines and brochures have been removed; passengers will be able to access these reading materials through a free application on their personal devices.
  • All passengers must undergo a medical check before boarding.
  • The crew will serve the fruit, biscuits, chips and other snacks to the passengers personally; there will be no self-service.
  • Passengers will have disinfectant wipes available throughout the ship, including at coffee stations and public restrooms.
  • Any onboard payments will be processed using a contactless payment method and credit card machines will be cleared after each PIN entry.
  • Passengers will have assigned seats in the restaurant, at the same table and with the same people each day.
  • Items that are usually shared, such as bread and butter, will be served individually.
  • Passengers will have access to gloves, face masks, and bottles of hand sanitizer.
  • The maximum occupancy on buses for excursions will be adjusted, reducing the number of passengers per vehicle.

“Constantly reviewing our policies to improve the safety and well-being of our passengers is part of our DNA; it is important to be informed and adapt quickly to new requirements, especially those from local authorities in the places we sail through,” Bettridge said.
