Barcelona, March 9, 2020. As COVID-19 is a factor of uncertainty regarding travel planning worldwide, Royal Caribbean Group is committed to giving its travelers greater control over their vacation decisions, allowing them to cancel cruises up to two days before departure.

The “Cruise With Confidence” policy allows all Royal Caribbean International, Celebrity Cruises, Azamara, and Silversea passengers to cancel their trip up to 48 hours before departure. Customers will receive a full fare credit, which they can use on any voyage during 2020 or 2021. This new policy applies to both current and future bookings.
“Our previous policy gave passengers shorter notice periods to cancel cruises, and that added unnecessary stress,” said Richard D. Fain, President and CEO of Royal Caribbean Cruises Ltd. “Trying to predict a month or more in advance where areas will be affected by the coronavirus is difficult even for health authorities, so it’s even more complicated for families planning vacations.”
“When circumstances are changing as rapidly as they are now, it’s good to know you have the option to change your tickets to another date,” Fain said. “We believe that offering our customers more control over their vacation plans helps them make informed decisions about whether to keep or change their vacation, whether to a different date or itinerary.”
In addition to making things easier for passengers who already have reservations, Fain said this new policy also gives consumers more confidence when making new bookings, knowing they could later change their plans without penalties.
The new policy applies to all cruises departing through July 31, 2020, and will be offered by the company's brands: Royal Caribbean International, Celebrity Cruises, Azamara, and Silversea. Complete information about the "Cruise with Confidence" policy can be found on each brand's website.
