In light of the coronavirus situation in China, MSC Cruises has taken new precautionary measures for the health and well-being of passengers on all ships in its fleet.
MSC Cruises has implemented a series of measures since January 24, and due to the ongoing coronavirus situation, has today taken additional public health precautions across its fleet. Although there are no confirmed cases of coronavirus on board MSC Cruises ships, the company has adopted these measures to ensure the well-being and health of all its passengers and crew.
- Passengers of all nationalities must complete a questionnaire before boarding to ensure that no one on board their ships has traveled from or visited China in the last 30 days. Anyone who has traveled to or visited China in the last 30 days will be denied boarding.
- Mandatory checks are carried out on all passengers and crew before boarding on all cruises operated by the company anywhere in the world and people with symptoms or signs of illness such as fever (≥38 C°/100.4 F°) or low-grade fever, cold or respiratory difficulty will be denied boarding;
- A high level of hygiene on all ships across the company's entire fleet;
- Passengers who have symptoms of fever will be isolated in their cabin and the same measures will be taken for those who have been in contact with them, including passengers in the same cabin and family members, as well as any crew members who may have served these passengers.
These measures are a continuation of actions taken last week. Passengers and crew who traveled to China last week were screened for symptoms before boarding and were asked to report any symptoms of illness to the medical center.
Since the arrival of the coronavirus in China, MSC Cruises has been closely monitoring the public health and safety situation in each of the regions where its ships sail. The company has been consulting with international organizations and local health authorities to follow their advice and recommendations.
