The Canary Islands are one of the most popular cruise destinations in Europe. According to the Cruise Lines International Association (CLIA), in 2018, 408,000 Europeans chose to travel to the Canary Islands aboard a cruise ship, a 1.1% increase over the previous year. In 2019, the Italian cruise line Costa Cruises will bring more than 130,000 passengers to the islands with 36 port calls in Arrecife, Santa Cruz de Tenerife, and Las Palmas.
Aware of the sector's strong momentum and the growing economic and employment opportunities it offers, Costa Cruises welcomed some very special guests aboard the Costa Pacifica upon its arrival in Santa Cruz de Tenerife yesterday, November 21. For the first time, Costa Cruises hosted a group of 15 students from the Rosa María Alonso High School, aged between 14 and 16, accompanied by three teachers. The group experienced firsthand the dynamics of a cruise ship's arrival, from the terminal to passenger disembarkation, as well as the ship's internal layout. The students visited the various facilities on board, including both private and public areas.
In addition, the students discovered the different and varied professions that can be developed on board a cruise ship, such as jobs related to hospitality, services or entertainment.
After sailing the Mediterranean Sea, the Costa Pacifica returns to the American continent this November to operate the Great Rio del Sol , which visits the cities of Buenos Aires, Rio de Janeiro, Salvador de Bahia, Maceió (Brazil), Tenerife, Lanzarote and will cross the Strait of Gibraltar to discover Malaga and Barcelona.
