Royal Caribbean has issued the following statement:
“Royal Caribbean Cruises Ltd. (RCCL) has announced a proposed restructuring of international operations (excluding China) for all its brands – Royal Caribbean International, Celebrity Cruises and Azamara – to better support and focus on each brand’s priority markets.
The proposed change would allow the international organization to become a single entity across all markets. It would also leverage advancements in technology and revenue management to reshape the organization and ensure it can keep pace with changes in distribution and how cruises are sold. Furthermore, the organization would consider centralizing many functions.
The proposal is now under consultation and details will be provided in due course”.
The news has alarmed the sector, which anticipates office closures and the relocation of departments to Miami; however, we cannot yet confirm that these decisions have been made or their scope.
