MSC Cruises, the world's largest privately owned cruise company, has announced that during the 2020 summer season it will facilitate connections for residents of Andalusia with its itineraries in Northern Europe. To this end, it will add direct flights from Málaga-Costa del Sol Airport to Copenhagen, with a total of 11 departures between May 23 and August 1.
This is another step in MSC Cruises' commitment to Malaga, marking the company's second announcement regarding the city in less than a year. It's worth recalling that a few weeks ago, the company revealed that Malaga will be the embarkation port for five departures of the MSC Splendida on its Mediterranean itineraries during the fall of 2020, with round-trip cruises lasting 10 days.
The addition of these flights to MSC Cruises' offerings for residents of the Costa del Sol and Andalusia in general will allow them greater access to highly attractive destinations during the summer months. They will be able to discover invaluable natural treasures and the cultural offerings of numerous Norwegian cities, the charm of St. Petersburg and Tallinn, or the photographic allure of Stockholm, among many other destinations.
“Málaga represents a prime port of embarkation and disembarkation for Spanish customers, with excellent connections from across the country, and is a highly valued destination for MSC Cruises. We recently announced a further step in our commitment to the city by including it as a port of embarkation for five sailings of the MSC Splendida from September 24th to November 5th of next year. Now, we want to add a connection that allows residents of Málaga to explore other regions comfortably and easily, without compromising the trust they place in our company,” says Emiliano González, President of MSC Cruises Spain.
Since MSC Cruises began operating in Malaga, the company has significantly increased its activity in the port. It's important to remember that, over the next 12 months, flagship ships such as the MSC Splendida, MSC Opera, MSC Preziosa, and MSC Poesia will call at the port, bringing approximately 80,000 visitors to the province who are expected to spend over €4 million, according to CLIA's average cruise passenger spending data.
