A new adventure begins for Princess Cruises with the launch of the Sky Princess. On October 16th, the ship embarked on its maiden voyage from Trieste, a ship that everyone will want to travel on thanks to its attractive design and the unique experiences it offers cruise passengers.
From the Italian city it set course for the Gulf of Kotor, where it is scheduled to arrive on October 18, and from there it will depart for Athens, the place where on Sunday, October 20, its first journey on the high seas will end.
Princess Cruises' newest ship features unprecedented upgrades. With a capacity for 3,660 passengers, this vessel represents an evolution of its sister ships (the Royal, the Regal, and the Majestic Princess) and offers a series of improvements poised to revolutionize the industry.
Sky Princess will revolutionize the cruise industry
The Sky Princess will feature two 'Sky Suites' with the largest balconies at sea, located in the center of the upper decks. Measuring 94 square meters (starboard) and 88 square meters (port), these exclusive spaces will offer extraordinary 270-degree panoramic views and can accommodate up to five guests.
The ultimate in relaxation will be the focus of the newly redesigned Sanctuary, an adults-only, spa-inspired upper-deck retreat. Featuring an enhanced contemporary design, this space will include twice as many private cabins as its sister ships, along with new furnishings and the option to book a spa treatment.
Another of Princess's bets on its new ship is gastronomy, for which reason it will have more than 25 spaces designed to delight the palates on board, from the WorldFresh Marketplace to some specialty restaurants such as La Mer (a French bistro), the Crown Grill Steakhouse or the Trattoria Sabatini.
Technology at the service of the passenger
The ship will become part of Princess' Medallion Class, thanks to the OceanMedallion wearable device. About the size of a €1 coin, it provides a completely new level of service, allowing passengers to enjoy a personalized and worry-free vacation on board. This unique cruise experience facilitates faster boarding; keyless cabin access; the ability to order drinks, food, and other items from anywhere on the ship; participation in various games via digital devices and portals; the use of a locator to find friends and family on board; and an interactive voyage timeline.
5-SKIES, when the show comes to life
Firm in its commitment to innovation in the cruise industry, Princess Cruises has also unveiled a new theatrical experience in partnership with 5-SKIES. In its debut, these shows, which employ numerous technological advancements in their production, will include a new world of virtual games, stunning digital effects and acrobatics, complex displays, and contemporary music, making it undoubtedly one of the most visually advanced shows ever presented by a cruise line
Sky passengers will enter the greatest virtual reality game of all time, taking on the role of 'Player 1'. They will face a series of five levels of difficulty, progressing through different personalities along the way, with the ultimate goal of reaching the highest level—the one where the Sky Princess character resides. Set to a playlist of contemporary hits, 5-SKIES will incorporate digital effects, incredible stunts, dazzling costume design, and intricate sets.
This innovative initiative is joined by other new entertainment offerings, including Take Five , the new jazz-themed area, a redesigned Vista Lounge , various improvements to the Princess Theatre and the recently announced production of the 'Rock Opera' show , which will also be backed by the creative team behind 5-SKIES.
