Pullmantur Cruises – the only cruise line in the market that brings the Spanish lifestyle to the cruise experience – will add a new ship to its fleet in 2021, increasing its capacity by 30% compared to 2020. Specifically, it will be the Grandeur of the Seas, a ship belonging to Royal Caribbean International's highly regarded Vision class.
This addition is the first step in its strategic plan for future growth, aimed at making Pullmantur Cruises the most successful cruise line of all time in Spain and Latin America.
According to Richard J. Vogel, President & CEO of Pullmantur Cruises, the arrival of the Grandeur of the Seas is “magnificent news for the cruise market in Spain and Latin America; an endorsement of the relentless work we are doing to further improve our product, firmly committed to offering a differentiated and unique proposition in the market, based on the Spanish and Latin American lifestyle and firmly rooted in innovation.” The new ship “will inaugurate a new chapter in the history of Pullmantur Cruises, one characterized by growth,” Vogel adds.
Before beginning to sail with Pullmantur Cruises, the Grandeur of the Seas will undergo a revitalization process called 'Pullmanturizing' since it will not be a typical upgrade, but a renovation of the facilities and designs as well as a change of its name in line with the positioning of Pullmantur Cruises.
In its first season (summer 2021), the ship will sail the North Seas of Europe and sales will open early next year.
The arrival of the Grandeur of the Seas—scheduled for delivery in April 2021—will contribute to making Pullmantur Cruises' operations more environmentally friendly, as this ship is equipped with Advanced Emissions Purification Systems (AEP). AEP helps improve air quality by treating the exhaust gases produced by the ship's generators, eliminating approximately 98% of sulfur dioxide, among other pollutants. These systems comply with internationally recognized MARPOL standards, both in port and at sea.
