Just one month before the inauguration of MSC Grandiosa, the first ship in the Meraviglia-Plus class, MSC Cruises has announced the lineup of artists who will participate in the four-day celebration. These events will feature internationally renowned performers, as well as experiences specially designed for the residents of Hamburg, the city where the inauguration will take place.
The arrival of MSC Grandiosa at the Port of Hamburg on November 6 will mark the start of these celebrations with a captivating light show by artist Michael Batz. From 20 different vantage points, this display will bathe the port in blue, a color representing the sea and MSC Cruises' commitment to ocean conservation. As a further demonstration of this environmental responsibility, energy-efficient lighting will be used during the show. The illumination will playfully highlight the silhouettes of MSC Grandiosa and the Elbphilharmonie building.
For four days, guests will also be able to discover everything this impressive ship has to offer. Each night, MSC Grandiosa will feature top-tier entertainment. Michelle Hunziker, who was also present at the 2018 inauguration of MSC Seaview, returns as master of ceremonies. The actress, model, singer, and television presenter perfectly embodies the international character of MSC Cruises, and she will be joined by popular German actor Jochen Schropp, who will also co-host with Hunziker.
On the banks of the Elbe River, MSC Village has been built , a space with a capacity for 5,000 people and open to all city residents, who can join in the celebrations with live music and food trucks . On land, the German presenters Annemarie & Wayne Carpendale will host the event.
MSC Grandiosa will be the star of its official inauguration, with the Elbe River as its main stage, thanks to a spectacular light show that will activate as it passes the Elbphilharmonie. The official inauguration will culminate in a grand finale: the presence of Sophia Loren —godmother of MSC Cruises ships—and a fireworks display. This passage along the Elbe holds special significance, as the Port of Hamburg is known as "the gateway to the world," a concept symbolized by a blue light projection.
These celebratory days will conclude with an unforgettable experience. Harald Wohlfahrt, chosen as one of the world's top 10 chefs and the only German chef to have held three Michelin stars for 25 consecutive years, will design the gala menu. After dinner, guests can stroll through the Grand Gallery and dance to the music of DJ Mouse T. and singer Emma Lanford.

MSC Grandiosa will depart from Hamburg on November 10th for its maiden voyage, which will include an overnight stop in Barcelona on November 18th. From November 23rd onwards, it will offer 7-day Mediterranean itineraries, with Barcelona as the port of embarkation and stops in Genoa, Civitavecchia, Palermo, Valletta, and Marseille.
