Norwegian Cruise Line (NCL) announced on "The Kelly Clarkson Show" that Grammy-winning superstar Kelly Clarkson will be the godmother of the Norwegian Encore, the cruise line's newest ship, which will debut in Miami in November. Andy Stuart, CEO of Norwegian Cruise Line, appeared on Clarkson's show, produced by NBCUniversal, to invite the singer to join the Norwegian Cruise Line family as godmother of the ship. As part of the initiative, Kelly will perform during the inaugural ceremony in Miami on Thursday, November 21, and will uphold the maritime tradition of blessing and officially presenting the new ship.
Andy Stuart stated: “We knew we wanted someone who embodied our core values. Kelly is a role model, passionate about her family, music, and entertainment. She shares all our passions! We are thrilled to have her join our family and look forward to celebrating Norwegian Encore’s Miami debut with her this November.”.
Kelly Clarkson commented, “I am so honored to be named godmother of the Norwegian Encore and to participate in such a special ceremony in Miami. Being surrounded by loved ones and spending time with them is so important while enjoying an unforgettable vacation, which is exactly what Norwegian Cruise Line offers its passengers.”.
To celebrate her appointment during the renowned artist's program, she and Norwegian Cruise Line awarded 20 music teachers with a seven-day cruise, showing that both agree that education and travel are a powerful tool that connects people and promotes awareness and understanding around the world.
Adding to the exciting new restaurants and lounges that have made Breakaway Plus one of the most innovative and successful classes in the company’s history, the Norwegian Encore will introduce a new fine dining experience, Onda by Scarpetta, in collaboration with LDV Hospitality. The Tony Award-winning musical “Kinky Boots” will also headline the onboard entertainment offerings, along with guest favorites from “The Choir of Man,” “Happy Hour Prohibition: The Musical,” and the rock band The Cavern Club. Launching this fall, the Norwegian Encore will offer seven-day Eastern Caribbean cruises from Miami beginning November 24, 2019; Bermuda, Canada, and New England cruises from New York City beginning April 22, 2020; Western Caribbean cruises from Miami beginning December 12, 2020; and in spring 2021, it will make its West Coast debut, sailing to Alaska from Seattle.
