Last Thursday, August 29, Silversea's newest ship, the Silver Moon, was launched at the Fincantieri shipyard in Ancona, Italy. A significant milestone in the ship's long-awaited construction, the launch was marked by a traditional coin ceremony, held in the presence of senior Silversea and Fincantieri executives, as well as other distinguished guests. Fincantieri will now begin work on the ship's interiors, bringing them up to the level of luxury that characterizes Silversea.

With new features that push the boundaries of luxury travel, Silver Moon will be the most elegant ship in its class.”

This celebration has special significance for Silversea, as this year marks the 25th anniversary of our cruise company.”
The Silver Moon will redefine luxury cruise travel with groundbreaking new concepts. One example is SALT (Sea and Land Taste)℠, an innovative new culinary program that will bring guests immersive dining experiences. Tailored to each destination, SALT will elevate the role of gastronomy as a means of traveling more deeply within each destination, showcasing entire ecosystems around the world's culinary cultures. In the SALT Kitchen, SALT Lab, and SALT Bar, guests will develop an appreciation for regional ingredients and culinary traditions before venturing ashore under expert guidance to experience these gastronomic cultures firsthand.
While preserving the elegant design of the Silver Muse, which has been incredibly successful with guests, many of the Silver Moon will be enhanced: the Dolce Vita Lounge, the Connoisseur's Corner, the pool terrace, and the spa and fitness center will each undergo comprehensive redesigns for the benefit of guest comfort and enjoyment. The Kaiseki restaurant will also be redesigned, as will La Dame restaurant, which will incorporate bespoke Lalique glass panels. La Terrazza, Silver Note, Atlantide, Arts Café, The Grill, Spaccanapoli, the Panorama Lounge, the Observation Library, the Venetian Lounge, and the Casino will welcome guests with atmospheres of relaxed luxury.
Despite high demand, suites are still available for Silver Moon's inaugural voyage between Trieste and Rome (Civitavecchia), departing on August 6, 2020. Silver Moon will then embark on its inaugural season in the Mediterranean before arriving in the Americas in November. After serving several destinations in Central America and the Caribbean, including Barbados, Antigua, and Puerto Rico, Silver Moon will complete an incredible circumnavigation of South America on the 2021 Great South America, visiting 37 destinations in 20 countries between January 7 and March 17, 2021.
