From November 2020, Windstar guests will be able to admire the extensive refurbishment of their ship Star Pride, one of the company's three Star-class ships that will undergo a historic transformation.
With an investment of $250 million, Windstar has launched the StarPlus project , which aims to refurbish each Star-class ship from end to end between October 2019 and November 2020 at the Fincantieri Shipyard in Palermo, Sicily, Italy. This will involve cutting a new section of the ship, lengthening each vessel by 25.6 metersand bringing with it a variety of new and improved suites and public spaces.
This refurbishment of the three ships includes the expansion of the Veranda restaurant with more tables overlooking the sea; the creation of two new alternative dining areas and a casual barbecue space; 50 new suites and updated bathrooms for existing suites; and the installation of new sliding doors for suites with balconies. Acompletely redesigned spa center is also a highlight, sure to delight guests.
The Star Plus project anticipates the hiring of more staff, which will increase the crew/guest ratio to 1.5:1.
Each ship will carry up to 312 guests in total, offering a small-ship experience, but with more amenities and larger areas while still reaching small and boutique ports.
Finally, new, more environmentally friendly engines will be installed that will run on cleaner fuel, reducing the impact on the regions where the ships are sailed. The vessels are expected to be ready in the following dates: Star Breeze – February 2020, Star Legend – June 2020, and Star Pride – November 2020.
STAR PRIDE
Windstar's Star Pride yacht , completed after its refurbishment in November 2020, will be large enough to provide more space and comfort for each of its guests, yet small enough to dock in small boutique ports and hidden coves that others cannot access.
The 84-square-meter ocean-view suites will feature queen-size beds and luxurious Egyptian cotton linens. Following the renovation, they will include a luxurious bathroom with either a large bathtub or an invigorating shower.
They will also have the option of relaxing in suites ranging from 122 to 162 m2 or the 175 m2 Owner's suite with a living area offering beautiful views.
Windstar cruises , and of course voyages on the Star Pride, include all meals and 24-hour room service. All non-alcoholic beverages, coffees, and soft drinks are also included, as well as welcome cocktails at reception, all onboard entertainment, unlimited use of the gym, and water sports equipment.
