Oceania Cruises has unveiled its new Sirena, fresh from a major refurbishment. The complete overhaul is part of the OceaniaNEXT upgrade program, representing a total investment of over $100 million.
The Sirena features 342 brand-new cabins and suites along with completely transformed common areas. Sirena presents some additional improvements and details that go beyond what was done to the Insignia, the first of the six ships to undergo this ambitious re-inspiration process.
“The Sirena’s redesign is perhaps the best expression of our team’s Japanese Kaizen philosophy, which focuses on implementing constant changes that continually elevate the guest experience. That is the heart and soul of our OceaniaNEXT initiative,” said Bob Binder, President and CEO of Oceania Cruises.
Some of the additional improvements, which go beyond the work already done on the Insignia, include:
- Completely new front doors for all suites and cabins
- Full-length mirrors in all suites and staterooms
- Additional 100-volt sockets on each side of the bed in all accommodations
- New wall lamps in the spa.
- Additional crystal chandeliers in common areas and lobbies.
To complete the Sirena's stunning transformation, we can find unique elements from Oceania Cruises' multimillion-dollar art collection, including very special artistic expressions of the brand's personality.
Prominently displayed in the new Istas Bar, the ship's social hub and café, is an original painting by legendary chef Jacques Pépin, commissioned specifically for the Sirena. Pépin, known for having cooked for numerous heads of state, has written dozens of cookbooks and is, of course, very popular for his Emmy Award-winning cooking shows on PBS.
“I don’t know if my painting has helped my cooking, or if my cooking has helped my painting; I don’t know if one borrows from the other. All I know is that, certainly, for me, cooking and painting can coexist harmoniously. “Both are different expressions of who I am, and both improve my life considerably,” Pepin emphasized.
