Princess Cruises, the world's largest international premium cruise company , has recently announced the launch of MedallionNet, the best Wi-Fi network at sea, which passengers will soon be able to enjoy on board more than half of its fleet.

To meet demand, Princess Cruises will continue expanding its MedallionNet network, adding to the service offerings on several ships by the end of 2019. Providing fast, affordable, reliable, and unlimited internet access, MedallionNet will be available on the Coral Princess and Island Princess in time for the Alaska season, on the Crown Princess and Emerald Princess for their European cruises next summer, and finally on the Golden Princess and Sky Princess by fall. This new connectivity option is already available on the Caribbean Princess, Regal Princess, Royal Princess, and Ruby Princess.
According to Jan Swartz, President of Princess Cruises, “Passengers and crew love MedallionNet. We are expanding it across the entire fleet as quickly as possible so that in the near future, anyone sailing with us can experience the best Wi-Fi network at sea. While many people come on a cruise with us to disconnect from their digital lives, we recognize that providing a land-like connection anywhere on the ship is something passengers truly appreciate, as it allows them to watch movies, listen to music, enjoy sports, or even make video calls to share their experience however they like.”
Launch of the Medallion Class aboard the Royal, the Crown and the Sky Princess
The cruise line has also announced the official launch dates for the Medallion Class on three of its ships. Enjoying a personalized and worry-free travel experience, thanks to the OceanMedallion, will be possible from the Royal Princess starting April 13, from the Crown Princess from July 24, and aboard the Sky Princess from its maiden voyage on October 12. At that time, the newest ship in the Princess fleet will leave the shipyard, becoming the first to incorporate the OceanGuestExperience Platform.
Recently awarded the CES 2019 Innovation Award, the OceanMedallion is considered a major breakthrough for the vacation industry. This complimentary accessory for all passengers features cutting-edge technology, offering a much more personalized experience by enhancing interactions between passengers and crew, eliminating friction points, and enabling more interactive entertainment.
New experiences
In addition to MedallionNet, Princess' Medallion Class also offers a wide range of experiences specially designed to help passengers make the most of their time during the journey:
- From the departure terminal to the ship's pool in a snap: passengers who upload their travel documents (passports) to their profile before arriving at the terminal will enjoy a faster boarding process, allowing them to start their vacation sooner and with ease. Personalization begins even before the cruise itself for those who are part of OceanReady, prior to reaching port.
- Order and delivery of drinks on demand: Using smart devices, passengers can order drinks with OceanNow and receive them anywhere on the ship, including their cabin.
- OceanCompass: Available on travelers' smart devices, as well as on portals and screens throughout the ship, OceanCompass allows OceanMedallion passengers to easily locate and communicate with friends and family on board using ShipMates, and activates a point-to-point location system throughout the vessel. Ultimately, it's a tool that guides passengers on their journey by providing directional information so they can easily reach their next point of interest.
