Barcelona, December 13, 2018 – Royal Caribbean International has announced its plans for the 2020-2021 season, focusing on the Mediterranean and the Caribbean as key destinations. This unprecedented deployment includes ships visiting the private island of “Perfect Day at CocoCay,” as well as seven of its vessels benefiting from the Royal Amplified.
Discovering the Mediterranean in all its splendor
In the summer 2020 season, the Allure of the Seas, following its participation in the Royal Amplified, will be the first Oasis-class ship to return to Europe after its revitalization. The ship will offer 7-night cruises in the Western Mediterranean departing from Barcelona, its home port.
The Explorer of the Seas will offer a variety of 7- to 12-night itineraries through the Greek Islands, exploring historic temples, amphitheaters, and villages. The Vision of the Seas will also be in Barcelona during the summer and fall seasons, offering passengers 12-night Mediterranean cruises.
Meanwhile, the Rhapsody of the Seas returns to Venice, Italy, in the summer of 2020, offering short itineraries that alternate between Greece, including its famous islands, and Croatia. The Jewel of the Seas will depart from Copenhagen, with 7-night itineraries through the Norwegian Fjords, the Scandinavian countries, and Russia. The Brilliance of the Seas will be based in Amsterdam, offering 12-night Baltic itineraries and a special 12-night British Isles itinerary. For the most adventurous passengers, the Brilliance of the Seas offers a true transatlantic voyage, spending 15 nights on board as it crosses the Arctic from Amsterdam to Boston.
The Anthem of the Seaswill be based in Southampton, England, and will embark on its greatest adventure yet with 8- to 14-night itineraries visiting coastal cities in the Mediterranean, Northern Europe, and the Canary Islands. The Independence of the Seas, refurbished in 2018 as part of the Royal Amplified, will return to Southampton for the season with 7- to 14-night itineraries through the Norwegian Fjords, the Canary Islands, Scandinavia and Russia, and the Mediterranean coast of Italy, including new destinations such as Agadir, Morocco, and Ponta Delgada, Portugal.
Perfect Day at Cococay will welcome many more ships
During the 2020-21 season, CocoCay, the company's private island, will welcome more ships than ever before, allowing more passengers to enjoy its renowned Perfect Day at CocoCay experience. Travelers from around the world will have the opportunity to experience thrilling adventures for the whole family, including North America's tallest waterslide, the Caribbean's largest wave pool, and the highest views in the Bahamas from a helium balloon that reaches a height of 450 feet.
The Enchantment of the Seas offer, for the first time from Galveston, departures to CocoCay for passengers who want to experience unique adventures, and will continue to offer a set of four- and five-night summer itineraries in the western Caribbean, an ideal option for short breaks or tourists taking their first cruise.
The perfect vacation any time of year: the Caribbean and the East Coast
The Oasis of the Seas, the ship that revolutionized the cruise industry in 2009 with groundbreaking features, will undergo a major transformation after its Mediterranean season next summer to become the first Royal Amplified ship to sail from Cape Liberty in Bayonne, New Jersey, starting in May 2020. The Bahamas throughout the summer with 7-night itineraries. It will also offer a series of short cruises to New England and Canada.
Furthermore, during the summer and fall, the Adventure of the Seas will return to Cape Liberty, alternating five-night cruises to Bermuda, New England and Canada or nine-night cruises to the Bahamas and the Caribbean.
Travelers can extend their autumn experience aboard the Vision of the Seas, which will offer three 10- to 11-night itineraries between Bayonne and Quebec City, the only fortified city in North America and a World Heritage Site, where they can enjoy an extra night.
The Symphony of the Seas and its sister ship, the Harmony of the Seas, the most stunning ships in the fleet, will return to PortMiami and Port Canaveral (Florida), respectively, offering 7-night Western and Eastern Caribbean itineraries. Both ships will include stops for the Perfect Day at CocoCay experience.
In addition, Brilliance of the Seas will illuminate the city of Boston this fall, sailing 7- to 10-night Canada itineraries beginning in September 2020. Meanwhile, Grandeur of the Seas will continue to offer Canada and New England itineraries for the fall season from the Port of Baltimore. It will then embark on a combination of 5- and 9-night Bermuda and Bahamas itineraries during the summer months, followed by 9-night Southeast Coast and Bahamas cruises, as well as 12-night Southern Caribbean cruises in the winter. The East Coast, Canada, and Bermuda itineraries will be available for booking beginning in December 2018.
Finally, San Juan, Puerto Rico, will welcome the newly refurbished Freedom of the Seas in 2020. The ship will sail 7-night Southern Caribbean itineraries, visiting destinations beyond the classic exotics, such as Philipsburg (St. Maarten); Basseterre (St. Kitts & Nevis); St. Johns (Antigua); Castries (St. Lucia); and Bridgetown (Barbados). Similarly, the Liberty of the Seas will offer 7-night Caribbean itineraries, sailing again from Galveston to the Eastern Caribbean. Seven-night Bahamas, Bermuda, and Caribbean itineraries are now available for booking through Royal Caribbean.
Short itineraries for unforgettable moments
The Mariner of the Seas and the Navigator of the Seaswill offer three-night weekend and four-night weekday itineraries to the Bahamas. Refurbished in Spain (Cádiz) during 2018, the Mariner of the Seas will continue sailing from Port Canaveral in Orlando, Florida, while the revitalized Navigator of the Seas will remain homeported in Miami, sailing from Terminal A. The Navigator of the Seas will be the third ship to be modernized through the Royal Amplified , incorporating new facilities and experiences such as pools inspired by the Caribbean landscape, two waterslides (including the longest roller coaster at sea), the first blow-dry bar at sea (a beauty salon where you can pamper yourself and enjoy a glass of wine or champagne), top-notch nightlife, and exciting activities for the whole family.
