Last Monday, October 8, 2018, at 8:00 PM, the AIDAaura began its first round-the-world voyage after a celebratory fireworks display. This is the second world cruise organized by the German cruise line AIDA, and it will visit 20 countries and 41 ports, including South Africa, Namibia, Melbourne, Tasmania, Fiji, Samoa, and New Caledonia, among others.
The first leg of the journey will take the AIDAaura from Europe to South America, with stops in Brazil and Argentina, before continuing to Ushuaia and then Chile. On its way to Australia, it will visit Tahiti, Bora Bora, and Fiji, followed by New Caledonia and Tasmania. It will then cross the Indian Ocean to Mauritius, and in Namibia and South Africa, passengers will have the opportunity to go on safaris to see the "Big Five" wildlife. After crossing the equator for the second time, the ship will reach the Canary Islands and return to Hamburg after 117 days on February 2, 2019.
The next round-the-world trip on the AIDAaura will begin on October 28, 2019.
