Friday, September 7, 2018. The Port of the Bay of Cadiz will receive more than 5,000 people, including passengers and crew, on Monday, September 10, with the simultaneous arrival of the four ships of the Fred Olsen, which is thus celebrating its 170th anniversary.
The Boudicca , Black Watch , Balmoral , and Braemar are scheduled to dock at 8:00 a.m. and will be greeted by the Los Sones de Cádiz band , who will provide music as passengers disembark and welcome them to the city. (A map showing the ships' provisional locations at the dock is attached.)
From that moment until four in the afternoon , various musical performances and recreational activities will take place in several locations throughout the city , in addition to a craft market and tasting of local products.
The full program, called The Captains in Cádiz, has been organized by the Port Authority of the Bay of Cádiz with the collaboration of the City Council.
Groups such as Cádiz Open Shopping Centre and the Association of Tourist Companies of Cádiz have also wanted to join in with different initiatives such as offers for tourists and crew members.
The president of the Port Authority, together with the mayor of the city, the president of the Provincial Council and the delegate of the Government of the Junta in Cadiz, will preside over the official welcome ceremony, which will be held on Monday, at 12:30, at the Alfonso XIII dock.
The event is expected to be attended by the shipping company's CEO, as well as members of the Fred Olsen, the captains of the four ships, international press, and representatives from local and provincial institutions, associations, companies, and groups.
To mark this day, the Port Authority, in collaboration with Fred Olsen, has launched a photography competition with the aim of awarding the best image of the day with a cruise for two people provided by the shipping company.

Fred Olsen celebrates this initiative every four years : they choose a port around the world where their four ships will call on the same day. This time , it also coincides with their anniversary.
The importance of the event, beyond the number of people who will come to the city, lies above all, as the president of the APBC has pointed out, in the opportunity it gives Cádiz, as a province, to project itself internationally.
