The Port of Cadiz will receive the simultaneous docking of four cruise ships from the Fred Olsen shipping company on September 10, which is thus celebrating its 170th anniversary.
This is only the second time in the company's history that all four ships have been in the same city on the same day. Four years ago, Bergen, Norway, was the chosen port, and that day has become one of Fred. Olsen's most significant events. This time, the shipping company wanted to honor Cádiz with a celebration that will have international repercussions, as international press are also on board, in addition to the company's owners.
Balmoral, Braemar, Boudicca and Black Watch will coincide between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. on a day called "Captains in Cadiz", which will have an agenda of events and recreational activities for passengers and citizens that the Port Authority of the Bay of Cadiz has been working on for months in collaboration with the Cadiz City Council and the Provincial Council.
Fred. Olsen's Director of Products and Customer Service, Clare Ward, said they were "very grateful to the Port and city of Cadiz for making us feel welcome in this stunning region of Andalusia, and for their generous support of our special 'Captains in Cadiz'."
The President of the Port Authority, José Luis Blanco, expressed his gratitude to Fred. Olsen for choosing Cádiz from among many international destinations for this event, which, he affirmed, "is an important opportunity for the Port and for Cádiz to position ourselves internationally and showcase our competitiveness and appeal. We are confident that we will make an excellent impression of our Port, city, and province.".
Fred. Olsen cruises have been regularly calling at the Port of Cadiz since 1997. According to the company, “for many of our customers, Cadiz is a highlight of their cruise vacation, and the city is famous for its historic architecture and generous hospitality.”.
Fred. Olsen also highlights “the excellent facilities of the Port, very close to the city centre, will allow the four ships to dock very close to each other, which means that Cadiz is the ideal place for this important moment in our history.”.
