MSC Cruises will celebrate the newest addition to its growing fleet, the new flagship MSC Seaview, with a christening ceremony in true MSC style. The event will be attended by numerous celebrities and personalities, leading partner travel agencies, and international media, as well as top executives from MSC Cruises and its parent company, the MSC Group. Gianluigi Aponte, founder and executive chairman of the MSC Group and owner of the ship, will be present along with the Aponte and Aponte-Vago families.
MSC Cruises is famous for holding spectacular christenings to celebrate the entry into service of its new ships, and this case will be no exception because the ceremony will feature a large number of stars, live shows, speeches, fireworks and a gala dinner, all accompanied by the maritime traditions that are so important to MSC Cruises, a family company with a long seafaring tradition.
The christening ceremony will be hosted by Italian television star Michelle Hunziker, followed by a performance from Zucchero Fornaciari,." Television star Lorella Cuccarini will provide a special moment on stage, and the Italian children's choir Piccolo Coro Dell'Antoniano will perform as a UNICEF ambassador, in recognition of the important partnership and its dedication to improving the lives of children and their families in developing countries or those affected by various crises. Also taking to the stage will be the young bel canto Matteo Bocelli, son of the world-renowned Andrea Bocelli, who sang at the christening of MSC Seaside, MSC Seaview, held in Miami last December. Matteo Bocelli will sing during the Officers' Parade, an important tradition that pays tribute to the ship's crew and is a beautiful moment dedicated to thanking them for their service. To conclude these traditional ceremonies, godmother Sophia Loren will cut the ribbon and launch the champagne bottle that will officially inaugurate MSC Cruises' 13th ship. Madame Loren is now part of the MSC Cruises family, and at each christening she brings a touch of Hollywood glamour and style to the event.
Also present at the ceremony will be Ramón Freixa, the two-Michelin-starred Spanish chef who has extended his partnership with MSC Cruises and will inaugurate his first restaurant at sea aboard MSC Seaview. Pan-Asian chef Roy Yamaguchi will attend his second MSC christening, along with other stars such as Spanish model and actor Jon Kortajarena, Brazilian presenter and actress Giovanna Ewbank, and French television personality Ariane Brodier.
The ship is designed to allow you to fully enjoy the open waters and the sun; it is specifically prepared to sail in warm climates and create a very special connection between passengers and the ocean.
MSC Seaview is designed to encourage passengers to step outside and enjoy the open walkways and decks. With the highest percentage of outdoor space of any MSC Cruises ship, every element of the ship is designed to allow passengers to enjoy the fresh air in every aspect of their time on board, from cabins and suites with terraces and balconies, to al fresco dining and drinks in true Mediterranean style, to options like an outdoor gym or luxurious open-air spa cabanas.
MSC Seaview is the 15th addition to the MSC Cruises fleet and the third ship to enter service in just 12 months, as part of the company's unprecedented €10.5 billion investment plan. MSC Seaview will make its maiden voyage departing from Genoa on June 10 and will have six embarkation ports in the Western Mediterranean, including Barcelona, Genoa, and Marseille, as well as other popular Mediterranean destinations such as Naples, Messina (Sicily), and Valletta (Malta).
