Monfalcone, Italy, June 4, 2018 – Today at the Fincantieri shipyard in Monfalcone, Italy, MSC Cruises officially took delivery of its new flagship, MSC Seaview. The handover ceremony was attended by Gianluigi Aponte, the shipowner, founder, and Executive Chairman of the MSC Group. Also present at the ceremony were Pierfrancesco Vago, Executive Chairman of MSC Cruises, as well as other members of the Aponte and Aponte-Vago families, Giuseppe Bono, CEO of Fincantieri, and other local and regional authorities.
Just after the MSC Seaside entered service at the end of 2017, the MSC Seaview is ready to sail its inaugural Mediterranean season. The ship represents a key milestone in 2018 as it is MSC Cruises' only launch this year, the second ship built for them by Fincantieri, the third ship to be launched in 12 months, and the fifteenth ship to join the MSC Cruises global fleet.
The ship, with its iconic design and generous outdoor spaces, will make a big difference for passengers who want to enjoy the sun and the outdoors. The MSC Seaview will sail in the Mediterranean during its inaugural season and in South America during the winter, reinforcing the company's position in both markets where MSC Cruises is a leader.
