Monaco, May 8, 2018: On May 3, Silver Spirit left the Fincantieri Shipyard in Palermo 49 feet longer following the completion of a complex lengthening and refurbishment project. Having been cut in half, lengthened with the insertion of a pre-built section, and extensively refurbished, the Silver Spirit is vastly improved and embarked on its maiden voyage, departing to jubilation from Civitavecchia (Rome) on May 6.
The Silver Spirit 's 59-day dry-dock period unfolded precisely and according to schedule, with approximately 1,000 skilled workers committing roughly 450,000 hours to ensure the timely completion of the lengthening. Aimed at enhancing the onboard guest experience, in line with the successful design of Silversea's flagship, the Silver Muse , the lengthening project has elevated the ship to an exceptional level. Among other improvements, stylish décor upgrades have provided superlative comfort and a greater sense of spaciousness to public areas and suites; the ship's pool deck has been enlarged; the eight restaurants have expanded their dining options with the introduction of Spaccanapoli, Silver Note, Atlantide, and Indochine, as well as the refurbishment of La Terrazza; and a host of new amenities have enhanced the onboard offerings, including the Arts Café, the Tor Observation Library, the Zagara Spa, the Panorama Lounge, and the elegant Dolce Vita Lounge.
Silversea is celebrating the Silver Spirit with a series of onboard enhancements to commemorate the memorable occasion. Bound for Barcelona, the inaugural itinerary is the first in a diverse series of European voyages. In September, the Silver Spirit will cross to North America, where it will remain until November. After that, the Caribbean will welcome guests.
