Madrid, May 8, 2018 – MSC Seaview, the next new ship in the MSC Cruises fleet to enter service and the 15th overall, is currently in the final stages of construction at the Monfalcone shipyard in Italy, where our partner Fincantieri has made remarkable progress since the keel was laid in February 2017, just over a year ago. We expect to take delivery of the ship in the coming weeks.
However, even though a team of nearly 4,000 people is working around the clock at the Fincantieri shipyard to ensure the ship is ready for its inaugural season, it will still need a few more days for final outfitting. This additional time is necessary to ensure MSC Seaview is fully prepared and, more importantly, to guarantee it can offer passengers the vacation experience they expect from MSC Cruises.
For this reason, MSC Cruises now expects to receive MSC Seaview on June 4th . Consequently, its inaugural ceremony will take place in Genoa, Italy, on June 9th for operational reasons . Due to this change, MSC Seaview's first port call in Spain, previously scheduled for June 5th, will now take place on June 15th.
MSC Cruises will welcome its first passengers on June 10 to begin the ship's first full cruise, which will depart from Genoa as planned.
