Oceania Cruises, a leading luxury cruise line known for its culinary offerings and destinations, presents 16 exciting new cooking classes for the 2018 European season aboard the Marina and Riviera ships.

Oceania Cruises is widely recognized for its innovative culinary enrichment offerings, such as the creation of the first Culinary Center at Sea, equipped with individual workstations featuring induction cooktops. The new programs have been developed by the experienced Culinary Enrichment Director, Chef Kathryn Kelly, and will be introduced on the first European voyages of the year in April and May.
“At the Culinary Center, guests cook under the guidance of chefs and restaurateurs trained in the world’s finest restaurants,” Kelly notes. “We continue to add new classes to keep our regular guests engaged, and this year we are thrilled to introduce our most diverse range of sessions yet, including the first-ever dedicated knife skills class offered at sea,” she concludes.
Mastering Professional Knives. In partnership with the renowned company Zwilling, Oceania Cruises has developed one of its most popular guest classes: a comprehensive knife skills workshop. Participants will step into the shoes of a chef, handling a wide variety of knives and having the opportunity to try them out, discovering which one is best suited for each task. They will also learn how to sharpen and maintain this indispensable kitchen tool, practice various cuts, and receive training in the safe use of a mandoline slicer. At the end of the class, all participants will receive a special certificate along with a discount coupon for their favorite Zwilling Company knives.
Reinterpreting the crêpe. While most people might think crêpes are exclusively French cuisine, this dish enjoys widespread popularity and is enjoyed around the world in a variety of ways. From authentic buckwheat galettes to sweet crêpes Suzette, the recipes in this class will awaken or rekindle your passion for crêpes and their delicious fillings and toppings. Sweet, savory, and everything in between: a true immersion into the surprising world of crêpes.
Nordic cuisine. Participants will delight in the delicious cuisine of Scandinavia and Northern Europe as they embark on a culinary journey through the Baltic, discovering the secrets of delicacies from both land and sea. They will savor regional specialties such as Estonian fish soup, Nordic salmon rillettes, gravlax cured in the traditional Scandinavian way, and mouthwatering meatballs with a Swedish twist.
“As the only cruise line focused on gastronomy, we strive to offer our guests unique and hands-on culinary experiences that immerse them in the cultures and cuisines of the world,” says Bob Binder, president and CEO of Oceania Cruises.
