Barcelona, March 15, 2018 – Royal Caribbean International has announced a multi-million dollar investment to further enhance the traveler experience, focusing on three key areas: exclusive destinations, groundbreaking onboard innovations, and fleet expansion. This investment will be reflected in Royal Caribbean's commitment to offering new destinations, with the launch next year of the Global Private Island Collection, a collection of exclusive private islands around the world. In addition, through the Royal Amplified program, the fleet will undergo a modernization process.
Global Private Island Collection, exclusive private islands around the world
Michael Bayley, CEO of Royal Caribbean International, presented one of the company's most ambitious projects at an event held in New York: the Global Private Island Collection, a series of exclusive private islands spread throughout the world.
The first in this collection, called Perfect Day at CocoCay, will transform the company's private island in the Bahamas into the area's premier family destination. The island's complete transformation will feature exciting attractions such as Thrill Waterpark, the largest water park in the Caribbean, which will include one of the world's tallest water slides; Oasis Lagoon, the largest freshwater pool in the area; a 487-meter zip line, which will be the highest point in the Caribbean; and an Up, Up and Away helium balloon ride.
It will also feature Chill Islands, two beaches with crystal-clear waters and sandy shores with sunbeds for relaxation; and the exclusive Coco Beach Club, which will boast the first overwater cabanas in The Bahamas. Royal Caribbean will offer departures from New York, Maryland, and Florida to visit CocoCay.
Royal Amplified: Ultimate Innovation Onboard
. Through the Royal Amplified , Royal Caribbean is refurbishing part of its fleet to offer travelers new and innovative onboard experiences in every aspect of their stay. This program, designed based on a comprehensive study of passenger preferences and crew experience, will reinvent and expand ship decks (with new and adventurous offerings such as original family pools, new entertainment options like the virtual reality Sky Pad, and lively activities), diversify the culinary offerings, and introduce new nightlife concepts, among other things.
New Ships on the Horizon
. On March 27, Royal Caribbean's newest ship, Symphony of the Seas, will arrive in Spain. From April until autumn, it will sail seven-night Mediterranean cruises departing from Barcelona as its homeport, promising to be the most spectacular show at sea, as it brings together Royal Caribbean's most famous and innovative facilities.
In addition to this ship, Royal Caribbean has several new projects on the horizon. Spectrum of theSeas, the first ship in the Quantum Ultra class, will debut in 2019, followed by a second ship in the same class in 2020. The fifth ship in the Oasis class will be launched in 2021, and the two ships in the new Icon class, powered by liquefied natural gas (LNG) and equipped with fuel cells, will be delivered in 2022 and 2024, respectively.
