Saturday, December 16, 2017. The Port Authority of the Bay of Cadiz has announced 307 cruise ship calls for 2018 as of today, which would represent an increase of 5.5% compared to the current year, which is expected to close with 291 calls, in addition to a record number for this traffic.
According to forecasts already released by shipping agents for 2018, peak activity will again be concentrated in spring and autumn, specifically in April, May, September, and October, when more than 30 port calls are expected each month. January and February will see the fewest ships.

Throughout the year, up to 22 days, three passenger ships in the port of Cádiz, and on six occasions, four cruise ships will be present simultaneously. Of particular note is September 10th, when the simultaneous arrival of all four ships from the FRED OLSEN company for the Captains Cádiz program.
The ships Boudicca, Balmoral, Black Watch and Braemar will dock at the Cadiz pier to celebrate, with passengers, crew and citizens, the international day of this shipping company that has chosen Cadiz as its destination.
The remaining days with 4 stops are April 13, 16 and 22 and May 7 and 19.
There are also 9 announced first calls from cruise ships that have not previously visited the Cadiz dock.
Pending the final month of 2017, 291 port calls are expected this year. As of November, 273 calls had been recorded, carrying 360,750 passengers. This represents a 4.6 percent increase in port calls and a 3 percent decrease in passengers, due to the smaller size of the ships arriving (total gross tonnage decreased by 2.45 percent).
In 2018, it is also planned to advance the roadmap set by the feasibility study to turn Cádiz into a home port for cruise ships with various actions.
According to the latest study carried out by the Andalusian Regional Government on the economic impact of cruise tourism in the region, the average daily expenditure of cruise passengers was 40.60 euros in 2016, 6.4 euros more than the previous year.
If it becomes a home port, the average spending per passenger per day could double, according to the feasibility study carried out by PwC.
