Madrid, December 13, 2017 – MSC Cruises has announced the lineup of artists for the official christening of MSC Seaside, which will take place on December 21 in the Port of Miami. As part of the christening ceremony held for each new ship, MSC Cruises will welcome special guests from the world of entertainment, Miami authorities, international media, and key industry partners. For this very special launch in Miami, MSC Cruises presents an international list of celebrity guests that reflects the company's European heritage and global presence.
Ricky Martin will be the international superstar of this grand event, performing some of his most popular hits. Renowned for bringing Latin music to global fame, Ricky Martin is a star in many countries and perfectly embodies the international spirit of MSC Cruises and the city of Miami.
Also taking the stage will be world-renowned tenor Andrea Bocelli, whose dazzling classical career has taken him all over the world, including performances for four US presidents, three popes, the British royal family and several prime ministers, to name just a few.
As if that weren't enough, Miami football legend and Hall of Fame quarterback Dan Marino, who played for the Miami Dolphins for 17 years, will also make a special appearance during the event. MSC Cruises signed an agreement with the Miami Dolphins in October of this year, becoming the team's official cruise line and further strengthening its relationship with the South Florida community. Fans and guests will have the opportunity to meet the Miami Dolphins and team alumni on a themed cruise aboard the MSC Seaside in 2018.
American actor and popular television host Mario Lopezwill be the Master of Ceremonies for the evening. Lopez will welcome guests on the MSC Cruises "blue carpet," where celebrities will give interviews, pose for photos, and mingle with other guests. Lopez will then take to the stage to entertain the audience.
The christening ceremony of MSC Seaside would not be complete without the ship's godmother, Sophia Loren, who has played the leading role in this time-honored tradition since 2003. Loren, one of the most famous Italian actresses of our time, will christen the ship with a ribbon-cutting ceremony and officially name the spectacular MSC Seaside.
But the main star of the show will still be MSC Seaside. MSC Seaside will shine on the Miami skyline, commanding attention with its revolutionary design. Inspired by Miami's architecture and lifestyle, the ship will feel right at home in the warm waters of South Florida. The state-of-the-art ship will offer world-class entertainment, a variety of international dining options, a magnificent spa, excellent family facilities, a private Premium Club (MSC Yacht Club), and expansive outdoor spaces.
